Next up - Royston away on Tuesday

1 year ago By Stephen King

Another match with a bearing on the promotion issues.

Ware will want to put in a better performance than they did in the 4-1 home defeat. It will help if they can avoid too close a contact with Royston's Rhys Hoenes who seems to win plenty of penalties for his side.

Royston have won a phenomenal number of spot kicks so far this season. Based mostly on the league website the count is at least 22 (if our home game is anything to go by the site doesn't always show when a goal has been scored from a penalty and nor of course will it show missed penalties). Obviously not all those penalties have been won by Hoenes though he does seem to be upended a lot in the area.

Royston will just be happy with three points as we come to the end of the season. A play-off spot is already theirs but with a home game against Egham on the final day they could be in with a chance of automatic promotion and the highest placing they have ever achieved since their founding in 1875.
