Ware 2 Uxbridge 1

Madden's winner keeps play off hopes alive
Ware kept their outside playoff chances alive with this win against Uxbridge at Wodson Park, but with the entire top eight all winning games may just run out before the gap is closed.Tom Bruno
was a constant thorn in the Uxbridge side and when he powered past Ben Peden and whipped a cross over Gareth Madden
could only head over the bar.
Madden was involved more negatively with the opening goal with Prince M’Bengui breaking into the box and going down under the centre back's clumsy challenge. Craige Tomkins smashed the ball home from the spot kick.
Ware were still creating the better chances and when a corner is only half cleared to Jack Daveney
his shot through a crowd of players went narrowly wide. Shortly afterwards from another corner, Ware created a similar chance this time Madden heading down for Louis Rose
who turned it goal wards. Paul McCarthy was alert to it and palmed the ball away.
The leveller came when Daveney played a good ball down the side of the centre backs for Jordon Watson
who took a touch to turn and rifled it into the roof of the net. Brandon Adams
should have given Ware the lead when put through one on one with McCarthy but tried to be too clever in sitting the keeper down and lobbing him, but McCarthy stayed calm and clung onto the ball above his head.
The lead arrived on the stroke of half time when Ware were awarded a wide free kick that Bruno swung over and Madden glanced a header into the far corner of the net.
The second half saw Ware continue to take the game to their visitors and Adams had another glorious chance with his second one on one, this time attempting to side foot home McCarthy read it well and saved.
Watson managed to get the ball off Tyrone Pink and flashed it across the face of goal just evading the lunge of Adams who was steaming in on goal. McCarthy was in fine form and called on again shortly after as Dave Cowley
was freed to run at the Uxbridge defence and shoot from the edge of the box, the keeper getting down well to turn the ball away. Watson also pulled another save from McCarthy from a similar position from where he had scored, this time the keeper turned the effort around the post.
At the other end David Thomas came close with a bending free kick that drifted just wide of Calum Kitscha
’s upright.Albert Adu
almost added a spectacular third smashing a long range effort off the post with Fraser John side footing the rebound wide of the goal.
