Ware 0 Haringey Borough 0
Another clean sheet as Ware cling on for a point.
After going the whole of Saturday's derby without introducing a substitute John Dreyer was forced into at least one change for this game with Charlie Yexley absent presumably as a result of the heavy challenge he received on Saturday.
But there were other changes too with Alaa Oujdi, who kept the subs bench warm all afternoon against Hertford, brought in for a starting place. Marcus Milner was another absentee on Saturday who was brought back in whilst Conor Okus, back from injury was also given a start. In addition to Yexley the others making way were Leigh Rose and Ace'a Laurent.
Yexley is the second right back to be injured in successive Saturdays leaving Ware to draft captain Gareth Madden into that position. He's occupied it with success in the past but has been more useful of late in a mid-field role. Not that he even lasted to half time in that position either as an injury to Louis Bowen saw the Ware captain move to centre back.
In the circumstances it was no surprise that it was Haringey who enjoyed the best of those opening 45 minutes with several chances to take the lead though all allowed to go begging. As the half wore on Ware came back into the game and they too squandered chances with Marcus Milner's deflected cross eluding both Valery Pajetet in the Borough goal and Jordon Watson before Oujdi hammered it wide.
The visitors had the best chances in the second half, not least when a Madden tackle in the penalty area led to a spot kick for the visitors. Harry Voss rose to the occasion and dived to clasp Michael O'Donoghue's kick. However, the keeper had no chance in the dying moments when Scot Mitchell's long range shot cracked the underside of Voss's cross bar before bouncing on the line.
It was perhaps a close run thing but it is now 289 minutes since Ware have conceded a goal, a record that would have seemed impossible a short while ago. More importantly it was a third game without defeat as Ware continue to pull clear of trouble at the wrong end of the table.
