Dereham Town 1 Ware 0
Ware have the possession but not the goals.
Making one of their longest journeys of the season in midweek Ware were without both Gareth Price and Alaa Oujdi from Saturday's starting line up. Jack Mace returned at right back allowing Aston Goss to move forward whilst Murat Karagul dropped to Oujdi's place on the left of the back four. Taking his place in midfield was Jason Coughlan, some consolation one hopes for his fruitless journey to Bury at the weekend.
Ken Charlery might well have preferred to have Price on duty but it was a strong team on paper and spent most of the game proving that point. Unfortunately the goals didn't come and whilst Ware battled away throughout the game it was Dereham who scored the only goal after 20 minutes when a break away allowed Daniel Beaumont an opportunity from the edge of the box. He took it, driving the ball into the bottom corner of Kyle Forster's net.
Other than that Ware had the better of things in the first half without really testing Will Viner in the home goal. He had to be on his toes in the second period however as Ware spent most of the half plugging away at a resolute defence.
Haule hit the bar with a volleyed flick from a cross by Tom Bradbury on the hour and it was Haule again15 minutes later when his shot from the edge of the box brought the best out of Viner as he tipped it over the bar.
It wasn't all Ware however and the home side almost exploited Ware's reorganisation at a substitution with a quick free kick but Bradbury was alert and cleared from in front of goal.
Charlery used his substitutes to engineer an opening but frustration built as time ebbed away with Ware picking up four bookings. In the end the referee's whistle brought things to an unsatisfactory conclusion as Ware suffered their first defeat since the opening day of the season.
A third away game on the trot left them once again with less than their play seemed to deserve and on Saturday a fourth consecutive game away from Wodson Park sees them facing a tough assignment at play-off hopefuls Witham Town.
