Another woeful tale of Ware missing chances and finish up paying the price of losing a game they should have won quite comfortably.
Ware were hampered by the injury in their pre match warm up to striker Kieran Bishop and although Bishop started the game he wasn’t his usual mobile self and struggled up until the time he scored an equalising penalty and was then substituted in the 19th minute.
Cheshunt created the first goal scoring opportunity when Aryan Tajbakhsh passed to Joe O’Brien and his shot was touched onto the bar by Rhys Madden in the Ware goal, in the 5th minute Cheshunt took the lead when Joshua Fagbohun shot past Rhys Madden with the Ware defence in disarray to lead 1-0.
Ware fought back and in the 17th minute were awarded a penalty when Marcus Milner was brought down in the box and Kieran Bishop stepped and converted the penalty to put Ware on level terms at 1-1.
Ware then began to dominate the game and in the 19th minute Kieran Bishop was substituted with Charlie Ledula who made an immediate impact when a Khale Dacosta pass saw a Charlie Ledula shot well saved by Glenn Williamson in the Cheshunt goal.
Ware were now starting to play their free flowing football when Khale Dacosta, Marcus Milner combined to put Charlie Ledula away and his run and cross was met by Albert Adu whose powerful shot was deflected for a corner, another Khale Dacosta, Charlie Ledula run and cross was this time met by Michael Deane whose shot was hit wide.
Two more chances fell to Ware when Charlie Ledula after being put in by Lee White and Michael Deane sliced his shot over the bar and a Ryan Hervel corner was headed over by Lee White.
Half-Time: Cheshunt 1-1 Ware.
Ware started brightly at the start of the second half with Albert Adu’s shot being deflected over the bar, soon after Cheshunt broke with Joe Clemo racing clear and unchallenged with a one on one with Rhys Madden but shot straight at the keeper who saved comfortably.
Ware then had the chance to take the lead when Michael Deane put Charlie Ledula through and his goal bound shot was saved by the keeper’s feet and cleared, Cheshunt then broke with Joe Clemo passing to Anthony Anstead who shot over the bar.
Khale Dacosta and Charlie Ledula combined once again with the latter’s shot being deflected out for a corner and then Albert Adu had a shot that was hit wide, Finbarr Robins then got in on the act with a shot set up by Samir Hadi that keeper Glenn Williamson tipped over the bar.
Cheshunt had a couple of chances with corners that were dealt with by the Ware defence and a free kick by Ted Llewellyn was headed out by Alaa Oujdi, Ware then counter attacked with Finbarr Robins and Albert Adu putting Charlie Ledula through on goal and he pulled his shot wide.
Cheshunt took the lead in the 84th minute when they were awarded a free kick on the edge of the box, Alan Bossman took the kick and Rhys Madden was unable to hold onto the ball and Ted Llewellyn fired in the loose ball to give Cheshunt the lead 2-1.
At the final whistle Cheshunt won their first league game of the season 2-1.
