Ware 2 Northwood 2
Ware lose out in penalty shoot-out.
It is always a temptation in the early rounds of the Red Insure Cup for managers to rest some players and bring in others. Ware's team for this game showed significant changes from that which played on Saturday with just five players in the starting line-up who had been on at the start or on the bench against Godalming.
The most notable inclusion was Cameron Currie who at 16 years and 229 days is not quite the youngest player to turn out for the first team (that honour goes to Danny Gibbs who was 15 years and 329 days on his debut in 1999) but he may well be the youngest to play a full ninety minutes.
On the bench were two other academy players with one of them, Nathan Walker, coming on twenty minutes from the end. All this suggests that the future looks good for Ware.
They took the lead through Murat Karagul ten minutes before half time but Northwood were level with twenty minutes to go. Corey Davidson then got his first for the club after 84 minutes but the visitors claimed another equaliser in the last moments and went on to win 4-3 on penalties.
Ware: Glenn Williamson, Michael Deane (Ben Crilley 45mins), James Manlove (Khale Dacosta 55mins), Finbarr Robins, Jack Fowler, Kieron Street, Cameron Currie, Mickey Clark (Nathan Walker 70mins), Murat Karagul, Josh Oyibo, Corey Davidson. Unused subs: Mattie Kyriakou, Jasz Johnson.
