Witham Line up:
Ware started very lively in this pre-season friendly against newly promoted premier side Witham Town, both sides played well with Ware playing the better football and causing Witham’s back four many problems with Kieran Bishop looking lively supported by the always impressive attacking midfielder Albert Adu ably assisted by Murat Karagul. Ware’s new signing Lee White made his debut and was impressive at the centre of the defence along with the ever reliable Gareth Madden and they quickly built up an understanding and look a very strong pairing for the season ahead.
The Ware side looked fit and this run out will certainly have done them some good with some things still left to work on.
The first half was pretty even with both sides playing good attacking football and both trying to stamp their authority on the game, Witham played well with their wingers in good form and occasionally causing the Ware defence some problems but were excellently dealt with by Gareth Madden and Lee White, Witham were also doing their best to deal with the threat of pacey centre-forward Kieran Bishop with their big defensive back four who coped well at times but Kieran Bishop was always a threat with his pace when attacking. The first half ended scoreless at the interval.
Half time: Ware 0-0 Witham Town.
The second half started similar to the first half, both side attacking from the start with Ware coming out and really putting pressure on the Witham side with their fast counter attacks which resulted with Ware’s goal after 60 minutes Albert Adu’s pass found Marcus Milner on the left wing he then went on a run, he dummied a defender sending him the wrong way and cut in to his right and sent an unstoppable shot to which the keeper got a hand to but could prevent the ball screaming into the net to put Ware 1-0 ahead.
Soon after Kieran Bishop was put through and ran onto goal, the keeper came out and instead of Kieran Bishop hitting the ball first time he tried to round the keeper and the keeper gathered the ball at his feet.
The rest of the half was played with both sides still searching for match fitness and this game would have done both teams a lot of good and answer a few questions for the season ahead.
Ware made use of all their substitutes and this did not affect the balance of the side, it was like for like and Ware continued to impress and look in excellent shape for the new season.
Final Score Ware 1-0 Witham Town.
