Ware U15 2 Hoddesdon Town 3
Ware edged out in local derby.
A disappointing result for the home side based on 3 defensive errors that meant Ware were always chasing the game.
The first occurred after 6 minutes, an innocuous looking cross nodded past the keeper without a Hoddesdon player nearby.
Hoddesdon's exceptional work rate and organisation stifled Ware's attempts at playing and it took until the 23rd minute for Ware to get a shot on target. The first half spoils clearly won by the visitors who were first to both initial and second balls without creating any obvious chances.
The second half saw Ware equalise early from a corner and this for a short while encouraged the home side to play more expansively, Nathan Tree and Rodney Clements creating dangerous overlaps on the right, Tom Weald looking dangerous on the left.
The progress was disrupted by a further lapse in concentration at the back, a ball to the back post not dealt with and Hoddesdon seized the opportunity to slide the ball home. Worse was to follow 3 minutes later, a long kick from the keepers hands allowed to bounce and the Hoddesdon forward finished well.
3-1 and chasing the game against a well drilled team was too much for Ware to overcome despite plenty of pressure and a second goal from Tom Weald with 10 minutes to go.
Difficult to resolve issue of defensive errors as they are individual rather than strategic challenges.
3 points to the visitors who are always value for money with their endeavour and spirit.
