We've met Enfield Town plenty of times but our last visit in the Isthmian League was on 5th November 2011 at their old Goldsdown Road ground. There were no fireworks in a 2-1 defeat with Dan Johnson getting our goal, one of three he scored that season.
It must have been one of the Towners' last games there as the Queen Elizabeth II Stadium was opened with a friendly against Spurs later the same month. They were promoted at the end of the season and we have not met since in a first team game.
At the same time that Ware were beating Romford in the preliminary round of the Velocity Trophy on August 21st Enfield were scoring a 1-0 win in the first round at Canvey (they had a bye in the preliminary round). Ware then waited until September 4th for their 2-0 first round win at Chalfont St Peters.
No date has yet been set for the match with Enfield although, following FA Cup results, both teams are free on Saturday, 22nd September. We will let you know as soon as it is set.
