Saturday's Southern League game between Bedford Town and Fleet Town at the Eyrie was postponed just ten minutes before the scheduled kick off when the Bedford players apparently declined to take the field. It has been suggested that the players went on strike after being refused a meeting with the chairman but things are still somewhat vague.
Former Ware players Paul Cooper and Bradley Woods-Garness are currently members of Bedford's squad (Josh Oyibo seems no longer to be with them) but what their involvement was in the affair is not possible to say.
Bedford say that the match was postponed due to exceptional and unforeseen circumstances. What punishment they may face for the late postponement is also yet to be determined but it must be one of Fleet's longer journeys so one can expect they will be seeking compensation.
