Tractor Tales - December 5th

A series of personal thoughts from the seat of the tractor.

By Aiden Mynott

Those of you that don’t regularly visit the club website will not necessarily be aware of the trial taking place in the USA involving 3 FIFA officials arrested by the FBI. It is now in its fourth week. A quick summary is that just about everyone who has been a FIFA official is likely to or has taken a bribe.

We have also had the draw for the World Cup. Where did they get the idea for the ball selectors from. Gordon Banks, I didn’t know he was still alive. Maradona, obviously as it was in Russia there was no record of his past drug abuse and as for Gary Lineker...

Anyway the draw appears to have been kind to us. The manager of Tunisia already thinks second place is between his country and England. I am therefore assuming that he expects Belgium to win the group. I think he maybe wrong. I know individually Belgium have some very talented players but if Martinez is true to form his attacking tendency will leave gaps at the back as he often did whilst in charge of Everton. I also believe that Southgate's experience of tournaments both as a player and the under 21 manager will this tournament have a bearing on England’s performance.

Last week saw 2 new managers appointed in the Premiership. Both clubs involved are getting close to the dreaded relegation positions. We find ourselves in a similar position. Now one of my snouts informs me that we are soon to be in the same position. If that proves to be the case I can only suspect that our current manager has decided to step down. Again if that is the case he deserves the gratitude of the supporters and players for the timing of his decision. It is easy to run for cover when things get tough. However I believe he was aware the Chairman has been on holiday and has waited for his return before offering his resignation. Kem if my speculation proves to be right, you are an honourable man.

And on that bomb shell ....

Where next?

Advent Calendar - December 7th Not a good day for Ware with just three wins in 16 games since 1895.
Craig Edwards takes over as Kem leaves. Change of manager in effort to re-energise Ware's season.
