Press release, a club statement:
The Isthmian League has decreed that our game against Harlow Town on Boxing Day, which was abandoned after 73 minutes, is to be replayed. The date has been fixed for Tuesday 5th February 2013.
After much deliberation, Ware Football Club has decided that under all the current circumstances, including the weather and loss of income caused by the same, that it has no choice but to try and recover the cost of putting the additional game on. Our average home gate for this season on a Tuesday evening has been 60 people. The average cost for 3 officials is £160, the cost of lighting (floodlights included), heating and players refreshments (a league requirement) and staff, gateman and tea bar (also a league requirement) is in the region of another £150. Therefore assuming an average attendance, the club will break-even if there is a charge of £5 (concessions £2.50).
Ware Football Club hopes that those that do attend on 5th February find themselves watching a game as entertaining as the one that was abandoned by the referee when Ware were winning 4-2 on Boxing Day.
