1898 saw Ware beat Harlow and Burnt Mill 3-0 in the East Herts League with goals from Harry and George Blakes, and one of the Pearce brothers (it was not clear in the report if that was Edmund or George). But it was an important victory over the newly and only temporarily merged Essex sides as it was enough to help Ware retain the league title. The final table shows Ware only two points clear of H & B at the top of the table but with a worse goal average so a draw would have denied Ware the title.
Ninety years later we scored another 3-0 win with Clapton the victims this time in an Isthmian League Division Two (North) game. Jimmy Sullivan scored two and Stuart Todd, later to successfully manage the side, scored the other. We finished in mid-table, six points and four places behind Clapton who beat us 1-0 in the return fixture.
1996 brought a third 3-0 win on this date with Cheshunt losing out in an Associate Members Trophy first round game. Damon Miles, Colin McGill (penalty) and Owen Raisborough scored. We lost 3-1 to Collier Row & Romford in the next round of a competition we rarely did well in.
