2016/7 - A season in review (Part 3)

3 months ago By Stephen King

Players appearances and goals; and a few notable milestones.

We do tend to get through some registrations in a season. 2014/5 saw us use 55 players in 53 matches whilst last season it was 62 in 53. On that basis we've been fairly conservative this time round with 57 in 58 matches. This is all the more remarkable when you consider there were two managerial changes and these upheavals always see new players brought in.

Two players were signed but did not make an appearance. Lawrence Yiga incurred a suspension that kept him out of football and Liam Griffin returned to the club when Kem Kemal took over as manager but failed to get off the bench in any game.

Milestones passed this season were 150 appearances for Murat Karagul (pictured) who is now just one short of 200 whilst Alaa Oujdi reached 100 and Ryan Hervel passed the 50 mark. In addition to becoming top scorer Gareth Price also reached 50 competitive games for the club in our last match at VCD Athletic.

The table below shows all 57 players who wore the club shirt in competitive matches in 2016/7. The multiple changes and recycling of players in pre-season friendlies means that appearances there are not shown.

This is not the same for goal scorers as all goals scored have been recorded no matter what the status of the fixture. One goal was credited to our opponents in the 2-2 draw with Kings Langley. Top scorer was Gareth Price with 34.

And now the table. Note that the figures in parentheses show the number of substitute appearances included in the main figure.

Enjoy!
