Ware 0 Heybridge Swifts 0
Clean sheet habit seems to be taking hold but no goals at the other end either.
This was Ware's third consecutive clean sheet which, in the light of the number of goals leaked for much of this season, is some consolation for the home points dropped. In total, Ware have now gone 300 minutes all but 60 seconds since conceding a goal.
And all this whilst playing a different keeper in each of the last three games. Harry Voss is still injured though receiving treatment at the ground during the match. Meanwhile Saturday's replacement Tom Coulton, having been shown the door by the previous manager, is now unavoidably on his way to the United States.
So there was a new man between the posts. Garry Malone, formerly with Bedford Town, made his debut not entirely as a stranger because in the team alongside him was Josh Oyibo who has himself been playing for Bedford this season in between his spells at Ware. Malone now becomes the first Ware keeper to have a clean sheet on his debut since well, I don't know. What happens when Coulton is back from the States and Voss is recovered from injury is a problem that can be happily left with John Dreyer.
The game itself was pretty even it seems but with Ware fashioning the best chances. Yannick Kamanan was twice denied in the first half by Malone's opposite number Danny Sambridge whilst Oyibo did well to bring the ball under control in the Heybridge area before shooting over the bar.
Kamanan hit the post in the second half raising fears that this might be a mirror image of Ware's win at Witham where the hosts also hit the post before losing. It might have happened too as Swifts' Ryan Henshaw had a chance in added time but his shot also cannoned off a post. But a draw seems to have been a fair result with Ware's position above the relegation area continuing to be eased.
For those who like this kind of thing the visitors Tim Monsheju came off the bench in the second half. It was his third game at Wodson Park this season having twice been on the losing side for Witham back in September.
