VCD Athletic 0 Ware 4
New regime kicks off with success.
Craig Edwards' first game in charge saw the Blues at VCD Athletic for a hastily arranged friendly. It was ironic that a narrow 2-1 defeat at VCD in the final game of last season left us reliant on a reprieve from relegation but a comprehensive victory laid to rest any bogeys that might have been hanging around The Oakwood ground.
Craig's new coaching regime, the introduction of new players plus the reintroduction of others seemed to make all the difference and the 4-0 score line said a not especially fond farewell to a run of six games without a goal.
Damien Green made his long awaited and impressive debut in the back four after returning from injury and Sam Alderson, Sebastian Osei-Obengo and Andrew Tirivanhu also made their debuts. Marvin Hamilton also played 65 minutes after his return from injury.
It was 1-0 at half time thanks to a penalty from Yannick Kamanan with Ware looking good throughout the team. There were numerous changes in the second half as might be expected from a friendly including a number of trialists but they appeared not to diminish the performance. Alderson and Osei-Obengo added further goals whilst another went to one of the trialists.
Further new signings are expected before the weekend so some of those trialists may yet get a name.
There is currently a very positive feeling around the club and the next league game at home to Mildenhall this Saturday is eagerly anticipated.
